The CCH – Congress Center Hamburg was opened in April 1973 as Germany’s first congress centre. In 2016, the aging building was closed for renovation work. The reopening of the new, rebuilt CCH took place on 22 April 2022.
The new CCH is groundbreaking, one of the most modern and, with a total area of 36,000 square metres, the largest congress centre in Europe. The up to 50 multifunctional halls for congresses and events of all kinds are distributed over four levels and the three event areas West, Central and East. The three areas are flexibly accessible via separate entrances and exits.
The modernised and remodelled CCH – Congress Center Hamburg impresses with its light-flooded modern architecture, well thought-out room concepts and state-of-the-art AV technology. It also sets standards in terms of location, flexibility and individuality. Even the new entrance area hints at the uniqueness of the building, and this impression continues in the spacious entrance hall and the Belvedere. An innovative lighting system ensures perfect light at all times throughout the CCH.
During the conversion, great importance was attached to sustainability – the aim is to achieve gold certification by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). Of course, the entire building is also barrier-free.
The CCH is framed by Planten un Blomen, one of the most popular parks and leisure facilities in the Elbe metropolis. In addition, visitors to the CCH have access to a wide range of leisure, cultural and recreational facilities – from international restaurants for every budget to shopping miles, museums, musicals and theatres to the Reeperbahn or the Elbphilharmonie.
The Hamburg Messe und Congress exhibition grounds with 87,000 square metres of event space and Hamburg city centre are just a few minutes’ walk away. The Dammtor railway station (connection to ICE and public transport) is also just a few steps away. Even Hamburg Airport (with approx. 130 destinations, as of 02/2020), which is well connected to public transport, is only 25 minutes away. And finally, there are around 100 hotels of all categories with around 3,500 hotel rooms in the immediate vicinity.
Barrier-free in the CCH
The CCH – Congress Center Hamburg is barrier-free.
All halls and foyers as well as the Roof Garden are easily accessible via ramps or lifts for people with restricted mobility. The lifts have been designed to be extra spacious – as have the disabled-access toilets throughout the CCH.
The CCH is located directly at the ICE and S-Bahn station Hamburg-Dammtor. From there it is only a few metres to the CCH.
If you are coming by car yourself, park in the CCH underground car park (entrance via Marseiller Straße). All disabled parking spaces are marked accordingly. These are located near the lifts that take you directly to the entrance level of the CCH.
